ATOWA あとわ

「あ」と「わ」とは、「天」と「地」を表したやまと言葉。

大地のエネルギーを出すSaco（ピアノ、パーカッション、歌）と天からの音を醸し出す直恵（クリスタルボウル 、ピアノ、歌）が２０1６年５月にニューヨーク・マンハッタンにてデュオユニットを結成。

 

ニューヨークと日本を拠点に定期的に演奏活動を行う。

その場を感じての即興演奏、毎回のテーマを題材にした共同作曲で、魂に語りかける独自のサウンドを繰り広げている。

 

守谷直恵：

クリスタルボウル奏者＆ピアニスト

国立音楽大学卒業後、ジュリアード音楽院認定リトミック指導者国際免許を取得。東京二期会オペラにて声楽を学ぶ。長年に渡る音楽指導の後、水晶で出来た癒しの楽器・クリスタルボウルと出逢い、ピアノとの一人同時演奏スタイルを編み出す。森美智代氏主催のプラーナ音楽会など日本各地は元より、海外はアメリカの二大パワースポットであるシャスタ、セドナ、ニューヨーク、ハワイ島、カルフォルニアうさと展、その他、アジア、ヨーロッパなど多くの国の方々にこの音の美しさとヒーリング効果をお届けしている。また、ニューヨーク在住のSaco Yasuma氏と、ピアノデュオユニット” あとわ "を結成し、ソロ活動と共に活動。

サコヤスマ：

ニューヨーク在住の作曲家、作詞家、キーボード奏者、パーカッション奏者のサコ・ヤスマはパフォーマーとしてファンク、ロック、レゲエ、アフロキューバン、ボサノバ、ジャズ、アバンギャルドなどグループで演奏し、ダンサー、アーティスト、詩人、フィルムメーカーなど数々の分野の芸術家たちとのコラボレーションも活発に行ってきた。1989頃からサックス奏者として、いくつもの自身のアンサンブルを率いり自作の作品を公演する。 2009年に首の故障のためにサックスの演奏活動を中断。ふと口をついて出てきたメロディーと歌詞がきっかけで、2016年に弾き語りという形で音楽活動を再開。その頃出会った守谷直恵とピアノデュオ、あとわを結成し、自身のアンサンブルの活動と並行して定期的に活動している。

“A” and “Wa” mean “Universe” and “Earth” in ancient language in Japan

 

The piano duo, ATOWA was formed in May 2016 in NYC by the pianist and crystal singing bowl player, the celestial sound of Naoe Moriya in combination with the earthly sound of the singer, songwriter, Saco Yasuma.

 

The improvisational performance of ATOWA with piano, voice, crystal singing bowls and percussion creates energy that corresponds with the moments, connecting the sky and the earth.  Their compositions are structured with each other’s ideas and transform and evolve with the vibration at the time.

Naoe Moriya 

​

Naoe was accredited as a certified International Dalcroze Eurhythmics Teaching, from the Juilliard School’s in New York, after graduating from the Kunitachi College of Music in Japan.

She is an artist of many talents as plays the piano, sings, composes, improvises and teaches music. She has experience of teaching piano and Dalcroze Eurhythmics for about 30 years. She is also a crystal singing bowl player. 

The crystal singing bowl is an instrument made of crystal and is used in healing sessions.

Using her experience as a musician, Naoe established her own performance style as she now plays the crystal singing bowl and the piano at the same time.

She has performed all throughout her home country of Japan and numerous times in New York, Hawaii, San Francisco, Shasta, and Sedona.

Saco Yasuma

​

Saco has performed as a keyboard player and saxophonist in rock, Reggae, Funk, Salsa, and Jazz band in Tokyo and New York. Along with many kinds of collaborations, she started her own Avant-Gard Jazz Ensembles, presenting her own compositions around the year 2000. A few years back, she was singing one phrase of lyrics with a melody. It was the beginning of her journey of singing and songwriting. Now she keeps going on that road to share moments with others.
